The Annual Reports include a summary of the projects and actions Developed by the Foundation during that year, as well as the most relevant data from publications, workshops, events and other performed activities.
2007 has not been an ordinary year for the Foundation, but rather a year of achievements and hits, of innovations in the health sector and of constant work along the lines of our mission. We have continued to develop our promotion of biomedical research and have accomplished major achievements in this field. We have also undertaken an important research and study project in the field of Bioethics and Health Law. Moreover, we have organised five Health Summits 2000 on most up-to-date current subjects.
You can find a description of the activities of the Health 2000 Foundation during 2007 in our Report of the same year.
This Anniversary Report gives a historical account of the fifteen years of Fundación Salud 2000's existence, since its incorporation in 1991. The Board members recount some of the main activities carried out in the framework of the four working pillars of the Foundation, in Spain as well as in Portugal: the sponsorship of research, the support of bioethics and the Law of healthcare, the spread of knowledge and the defence of health as a universal right.
This open approach to our work has allowed the Foundation to engage in a wide range of activities over its fifteen years in existence, all of which are described in the Report, such as Serono aid to research, Salud 2000 Meetings, the Foundation grants and the Bioethical and Health Law Collection.
The present Report gathers the main activities of the Foundation during 2005, dedicating a specific section to one of our main signs of identity and a great source of satisfaction: the Serono Research Grants awards.
As well as the Bolsa Serono for Biomedical Research in Portugal, awarded by the Portuguese Health Minister in its last edition, the report includes descriptions of the Workshops (courses, debates and presentations) that we have celebrated in different points of the national geography, always in collaboration with the Health Authorities of the different Autonomous Regions, whose help we are sure to count on in the future. In the Encuentros Salud 2000 meetings, “discussion groups” among experts of different administrations, the worls of academia, scientific and clinical circles, the different experts share their knowledge and experiences.
